Personal information we collect
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as ‘Device Information’.
Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment method, email address and phone number. We refer to this information as ‘Order Information’.
Please note your payment details will be processed by our payment gateway provider Shopify Payments. We do not store or have access to these details.
How do we use your personal information?
We use the Order Information that we collect to fulfil any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:
- communicate with you;
- screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and
- when in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.
We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimise our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).
Sharing your personal Information
By proceeding to place an order with the Parliament Shop online, you acknowledge and consent to your personal information being disclosed to overseas recipients and acknowledge that overseas recipients are not necessarily bound by Australian Laws.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email, or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org notifying us of your wish to unsubscribe.
We will ensure you can exercise your rights in relation to the personal data you provide to us. These are as follows:
Where we are relying on your consent to use your personal data, you can withdraw that consent or unsubscribe from our services at any time. Instructions are provided when we collect your data.
You can request access to the personal data we hold about you at any time by contacting the Privacy Team whose contact details are found at the bottom of this notice.
You can ask us to update your personal data if it changes. In certain circumstances, you can request we erase the personal data we hold or ask us to stop or restrict processing if you have an objection.

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records. The retention period for the collection of this personal data is 5 years after last purchase, after which the personal data will be disposed of securely, unless you ask us to delete this information earlier.
Security of your personal data
All personal data you provide to Parliament Shop will be stored securely, both physically and electronically, in accordance with our policies. Our store is hosted on Shopify who provide us with an online e-commerce platform. Your data is stored outside Australia, in the USA. Further information is available on Shopify’s Security page.
