Social Media Giveaway Terms and Conditions

To ensure compliance with relevant Australian legislation and social media platform terms of use, the following Terms and Conditions apply to the Parliament Shop's Warlukurlangu Artists Competition. This competition is a game of chance, and the winner will be selected at random from valid entries submitted via the competition landing page on the Parliament Shop website.  

 

1. Promoter 

The competition is conducted by the Parliament Shop, Parliamentary Engagement Branch, Department of Parliamentary Services, Australian Parliament House, Canberra ACT 2600. 

 

2. Eligibility 

  • Residency: Entry is open to all residents of Australia aged 18 years or older at the time of entry. 

  • Subscription Requirement: To be eligible, entrants must be active subscribers to The Parliament Shop database at the time of the prize draw. 

  • Exclusions: Employees of the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) and their immediate families are not eligible to enter. "Immediate family" includes spouses, de facto spouses, children, parents, grandparents, or siblings. 

  • No Purchase Required: No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase does not increase the chances of winning. 

  • One Entry Per Person: Limit of one (1) entry per person. Duplicate entries using multiple email addresses will be disqualified. 

 

3. Competition Period and Promotion 

  • The competition opens at 10.00am on Monday, 14 September 2026 and closes at 11:59pm on Sunday, 11 October 2026. Entries received outside this period will not be considered. 

  • The campaign will be promoted via paid advertisements on Facebook and Instagram throughout the four-week campaign period. Ads will direct users to the campaign landing page on the Parliament Shop website to subscribe. 

 

4. Entry Requirements 

  • Entry is available only via the campaign landing page for sign-up form during the competition period. 

  • This promotion is for new subscribers only. An "eligible entrant" is defined as a person who is not already a member of the Parliament Shop database at the time of entry. 

  • Eligibility will be verified prior to the prize draw. 

  • Existing subscribers are encouraged to share the promotion but are ineligible to win the prize. 

 

5. Prize Details 

One (1) winner will receive: 

  • Two (2) original artworks from Warlukurlangu Artists, each valued at $220 AUD. 

Total prize value: $440 AUD 

Prize details will also be included in competition promotional materials. 

 

6. Winner Selection 

  • One (1) winner will be selected from the pool of eligible entries following the close of the competition. 

  • Entries will be validated to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements. 

  • The winner will be selected at random using a transparent and documented randomisation process. 

  • The selected entry will be manually reviewed to confirm eligibility prior to the announcement. 

 

7. Notification of Winners 

  • The winner will be contacted by email within seven (7) business days of the draw. The winner must respond within 48 hours of notification to accept the prize and provide delivery details. 

  • If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, the prize will be forfeited, and a new winner is selected. 

  • The winner will be officially announced on the Parliament Shop's Facebook and Instagram accounts following confirmation. 

 

8. Prize Delivery 

  • The prize will be shipped within three weeks of announcing the competition winner. 

  • The promoter is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected mail. 

 

9. Participant Offer 

  • Eligible entrants who are not selected as the winner may receive a promotional discount code from the Parliament Shop following the completion of the competition. 

  • The discount code will provide 15% off a purchase made through the Parliament Shop website. 

  • The promotional offer will be valid for two weeks from the time the email is sent. 

  • The discount code is non-transferable, cannot be redeemed for cash, and may not be used in conjunction with any other offer unless otherwise stated. 

  • The promoter reserves the right to amend or withdraw the promotional offer at any time. 

  • The promotional discount offer is not part of the prize and is provided at the discretion of the promoter. 

 

 

10.  Disqualification 

The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entry that: 

  • Does not meet the stated eligibility or entry requirements; 

  • Is incomplete; 

  • Is suspected to be from a fake, duplicate, or spam account; or 

  • Is otherwise fraudulent or in breach of these Terms and Conditions. 

 

11. Platform Disclaimer 

This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook or Instagram. By entering, participants release Facebook and Instagram from all liability arising from or related to this promotion. 

 

12. Privacy 

Personal information collected in connection with this competition will be managed in accordance with the Department of Parliamentary Services Privacy Policy at DPS Privacy Policy – Parliament of Australia. Personal data will be used only for the purposes of administering the competition and notifying winners. 

 

13. Permits 

The total prize pool value of $440 AUD is below the threshold requiring trade promotion permits in all Australian states and territories. Should any permit be required, it will be obtained prior to the competition's launch. 

 

14. Compliance 

The competition will be conducted in accordance with: 

  • The Australian Consumer Law (ACL); 

  • Applicable state and territory laws relating to trade promotions; and 

  • Facebook and Instagram’s current promotion policies and guidelines.
