About the artist: 

Michelle Lewis is a Pitjantjatjara artist based in Ernabella (APY Lands, SA). Born in 1983, she began painting in 2017 and quickly developed a distinctive style inspired by her father’s country at Makiri, east of Ernabella.

A rising star of the Ernabella Arts painting studio, Michelle comes from a deeply creative family—her mother is senior painter Atipalku Intjalki, and her father, Adrian Intjalki, is a master punu (wood) maker. Her sisters Langaliki and Lynette Lewis are also accomplished artists. Michelle’s work has been exhibited across Australia and internationally and is held in major public collections.
